Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen is a relatively new country artist. Right now, he is among the top 3 biggest artists the country has to offer. His route to making it in the industry is actually a little different than what you might think. Wallen originally was destined for greatness on the baseball field. He played his whole life and was scouted by colleges as a shortstop for his high school, Gibbs High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, in his senior season, fate caught up with him as he ended up suffering an injury that sidelined him and required surgery. Colleges ultimately lost interest in him, and this is where his future took a turn. Now, Morgan Wallen always loved music, learning how to play the piano and violin when he was younger. He just never saw it as his first choice as a career. Once he couldn't play baseball anymore, he started to sing, just for his family, though. Once he started singing. His family urged him to audition for The Voice. He ended up crushing it at the audition and made it through to the battle rounds, which is where he found his. Singing songs like: Hey Brother by Avicii and Story of My Life by One Direction got him past both knockout stages, but he was eliminated in the playoff portion of the show. This was only the beginning of his journey to fame; the Voice is actually where he found his joy in country music once he was eliminated. After the show, he moved to Nashville and was in a temporary band called Morgan Wallen and Them Shadows. In 2016, Wallen signed a solo deal with Big Loud Records and producer Joey Moi. This is where he released his first big hit, "The Way I Talk." From there, it was only up as most of the records he put out were loved by millions, and the rest is history. Wallen gained more publicity when it was announced he was opening a bar on Broadway called "This Bar," ironically named after his recent hit song "This Bar."
What to Expect from "This Bar"
The Idea behind Morgan Wallen's This Bar is simple. Wallen loves Tennessee and everything about it. From the Smoky Mountains to the honky tonk bars he loves it all. "This Bar" is a chance for him to pay homage to everyone in Tennessee. First off, Wallen's favorite college, the University of Tennessee, can be seen everywhere around the bar. Wallen also loves his whiskey and does not mess around with it; so, that being said, most of the special drinks include whiskey, however, they just released a special drink with a toy chair in it. This is playing off an event that occurred where Morgan Wallen was having too much fun and threw a chair off a rooftop bar on Broadway. Moving on to the vibe of the bar, it is always packed and a party. The bar features country music 90% of the time, and the two big anthems are: This Bar and Whiskey Glasses both by Morgan Wallen. The bar has six stories, three stages, and walk-up bars throughout. The first stage is on the ground floor, which is a little tightly packed and has not much room for dancing. Moving on to the second floor, it's more of an extension of the first floor with a balcony overlooking the first stage. The third floor is exclusively a restaurant and used for dining purposes. The Fourth floor offers a stage with a bigger dancing area, and the fifth floor is smaller but also has a balcony above the stage on the floor below. On the sixth and rooftop floor, there is. a stage inside with garage doors leading to a rooftop section. This is the floor people love talking about because of how tall the structure is. You can see all of Broadway from the roof! On most nights, the bar is 21+ after 10 pm, with exceptions on Sundays and Mondays, when it is 21+ after 12 am. Overall, if you choose to visit, be prepared for a great experience and make sure to bring your ID.
Past Events at "This Bar"
Morgan Wallen is known to love America, and his favorite holiday is the Fourth of July. He always throws a special party, including special guests. One of whom was Tennessee Alumnus Peyton Manning. During this party, Larry Fleet and Morgan Wallen himself performed at the mainstage on ground level. Ernest has also played at the bar's grand opening with Morgan Wallen. Elle Langley made an appearance at Morgan Wallen's album release party back in August of 2025. Other Country artists have been known to pop in by like Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, to show the bar some love. The theme of Nashville is you never know which celebrity you'll see in a bar, and that is the fun of Nashville!
