Back in time: Ole Red
Blake Shelton: Man Behind the Bar
Blake Shelton was born in Ada, Oklahoma, in 1976. He was surrounded by music with his father playing the guitar. Growing up, he favored country music and eventually became popular in Oklahoma. By the age of 16, he won the best young singer award in Oklahoma. Because of this, he went on a massive bar tour around the state. A year later, when he turned 17, he decided it was time to move to Nashville. After playing some of the smaller bars around the area, he signed a solo record deal with Giant Records. This allowed him to create his own music in his own unique style. Eventually, he would release his first national hit, "Austin." This held the number 1 spot on the country music charts for five weeks! This was part of his first major album, which was self-titled, "Released by Warner Bros. once Giant Records Dissolved." With the album, he also released two more singles called "All Over Me" and " Ol' Red." One of which is his very own bar, named after the record.
The next major milestone Shelton had to achieve was to release his next album. The Dreamer was his next hit album with "The Baby," a song within the album reaching the no. 1 spot on the top 100 for three weeks. Blake Shelton, after this album, decided he would not slow down at all and released another album the next year. This one was a full-length album called "Startin' Fires." After that year, he won many awards at the Grand Ole Opry, CMA Awards, and CMT Awards.
Life Outside of the Studio
Blake Shelton, as he got bigger in the industry, wanted to have fun and find love. Blake Shelton was a bachelor, new on the scene, and found his first love. Kaynette Williams and Shelton decided to get married in 2003. However, their love did not last too long as they got a divorce in 2006. Later on, he decided to tie the knot with a long-term love interest of his, Miranda Lambert. Shelton and Lambert got married in 2012. They were friends before lovers, and everyone saw them as endgame. However, this too would not last as a divorce was filed in 2015. However, with this, it was different; they were still friends. Finally, Blake Shelton met his current wife, Gwen Stefani, on The Voice. They have been together since they decided to tie the knot in 2021.
Shelton is not always in the studio; he loves to pop by his own bar and buy a round of shots for his guests. He also decided to become a judge on the hit show, "The Voice," where he met his now wife, Gwen Stefani. Shelton joined The Voice when it first became a show back in 2011. He was a judge on the show for 12 years, until 2023. This is when he and his wife decided to leave to focus more on their personal lives. Lastly, just a little fun fact about Blake Shelton, he added to his trophy case, "World's Sexiest Man," back in 2017.
Ole Red
Ole Red is one of, if not the most famous, bars in Nashville. The thought behind the name was after his hit song, Ol' Red. This was a song about a guard dog who scared all the inmates. The funny part about this bar is that it was originally founded on Broadway. Blake Shelton first opened Ole Red in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The thing was Blake Shelton, and his bar became so popular that people everywhere wanted to go see just how good it was. Because of this, new locations of Ole Red opened up, including spots in Nashville, Orlando, Las Vegas, Gatlinburg, and even the Nashville Airport! Focusing more on the Nashville Ole Red, specifically on Broadway, it is very Unique. This being it is a double lot that sits on a corner of an avenue right in the middle of Broadway. Because of this and the fact that it is a double lot, the stage has the potential to open up to a stadium-style stage. However, on most nights, unless it is a big band or an important night, only half of the stage is used, but on the other side, they open a pop-up bar so guests can still have a great time! Overall, the bar has 4 floors and two stages with a massive walking room. The overall capacity of the bar is 1,200 people!
Food and Drink
The food at Ole Red is pretty typical of a classic American burger joint that is higher quality! However, the fun part is centered around the drinks that are offered to its guests. All of the drinks are normal; however, with every single glass cup you get, you have the option to keep the glass. There are many guests who love to stop by, including Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, and, most recently, Tucker Wetmore! IF you decide to come to this bar, I guarantee you will have a great time and go home with a great little memento of the bar!
